Dr Anthony Yung qualified at the University of Otago in Dunedin in 1991. He then worked at Waikato Hospital as a house officer, medical registrar and as an advanced trainee in internal medicine before undertaking specialist training in dermatology in 1999. He subsequently undertook further postgraduate training in dermatology at Auckland before moving abroad to further his specialist training based at the Leeds General Infirmary from October 2000 to March 2006. Here he completed his training in general dermatology and gained further experience in acne treatment, paediatric dermatology, patch testing, phototherapy, dermatopathology, laser treatment and dermatological surgery. He gained considerable clinical experience through working extensively throughout the Yorkshire region at both teaching hospitals (Leeds General Infirmary, St James's University Teaching Hospital) and district general hospitals (York District Hospital, Harrogate District Hospital, Wakefield District Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary) and has attended numerous courses and conferences internationally. He has worked with some of the United Kingdom's foremost experts in the subspecialties of acne treatment, melanoma, connective tissue disease, phototherapy, patch testing, dermatopathology, paediatric dermatology and dermatological surgery. He completed his fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2002. During his period of further training in the United Kingdom he completed the requirements for specialist training in dermatology in the United Kingdom (Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training or ‘CCST’) in July 2005. His interests include treatment of common skin disorders (such as eczema, psoriasis, acne), unusual and rare rashes, all types of skin cancers, paediatric dermatology, phototherapy, patch testing and dermatological surgery.
