Victoria Scott-Lang MBChB MRCP MRCGP DFSRH DRCOG DipDerm MRCP(Dermatology)

Dr Victoria Scott-Lang is Clinical Director, Consultant Dermatologist and Clinical Senior Lecturer at Christchurch Hospital. She also works in private practice at KM Surgical, a state-of-the art dermatology clinic in Christchurch.

She attended Aberdeen University Medical School in the North of Scotland, graduating in 2003. Following house surgeon jobs she trained in internal medicine and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians in 2006.  

Victoria qualified as a GP in 2009 and also gained specialist qualifications in obstetrics and gynaecology and in sexual health medicine. After a short time working as a GP, she spent five years training in Dermatology at the prestigious units of Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, and completed her specialist training in late 2013.

In February 2014 she moved to Christchurch with her husband, who is a GP, and took up the position of Consultant Dermatologist at Christchurch Hospital. She was delighted to join the team at KM Surgical in September 2015. She was appointed as Clinical Director of Dermatology in September 2016 and is leading the department through a series of significant changes, to improve the service for the patients of Canterbury.

Victoria is highly experienced in all aspects of medical dermatology, skin cancer diagnosis and management, and in dermatological surgery.

She is the lead clinician for paediatric dermatology at Christchurch Hospital, the tertiary referral centre for the South Island of New Zealand. She has a specific interest in managing patients with severe acne, eczema, psoriasis and complex medical dermatological conditions. She is the lead for undergraduate dermatology teaching at the University of Otago and also holds the position of Clinical Senior Lecturer. She relishes the opportunity to influence the next generation of dermatologists and loves teaching both undergraduate students and qualified doctors about her speciality.

She is passionate about skin care and skin health, and is now developing skills and experience in cosmetic dermatology at KM Surgical to complement her academic and clinical background as a skin specialist.

Victoria is on the executive committee of the New Zealand Dermatological Society. She is the Social Media lead for the world-renowned online Dermatology resource, DermNet NZ, and is also a trustee of DermNet NZ.

Victoria works four days a week between Christchurch Hospital and KM Surgical. She have a one-year-old son who also keeps her busy but in her spare time she loves running, cooking, tramping, and exploring the wonderful country that she now calls home.

She loves her job and always strives to provide the best possible care for her patients.
