Further information:
Dr Maurice has been a specialist in dermatology since 1989. He set up a busy public dermatology department in the UK and practiced there for fifteen years. The service included a Fast Track Skin Cancer Clinic and a Day Treatment Unit for the management of severe eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions. During this time Dr Maurice also developed a successful private dermatology practice. In 2004 he emigrated to New Zealand with his wife. Since then he has practised as a consultant dermatologist at Christchurch Hospital, where he set up a dedicated clinic for organ transplant recipients and established a trainee position in dermatology, the first on the South Island. He retired from Canterbury District Health Board in 2015, but continued to practice in Dunedin and Invercargill Public Hospitals and privately in Christchurch and Dunedin. In 2021 he returned to work part time at Christchurch Hospital, owing to the critical shortage of dermatologists in the public sector in New Zealand and the need to train registrars. Dr Maurice has authored more than fifty publications in peer-reviewed medical journals.
